The rising star has considerable online presence
Kai Trump can count on plenty of high-profile backers when she makes her LPGA debut later this week.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be the granddaughter of Donald Trump, was granted a sponsor's invitation to participate at the Annika tournament in Florida.
Her grandfather, someone who loves golf, possesses multiple golf courses and often matches against his granddaughter.
"He's fairly competent. I can't say much but we have tight competitions," she stated.
Kai explained that Trump, unable to come, advised her: "Just don't get nervous."
"He basically told me to go out there and enjoy myself," she added.
"To me, he's just a normal grandpa. He's not attending for the tournament. He's focused on running the country, making him somewhat preoccupied."
Being non-professional, Kai has played in just three tournaments this year and maintains ranking 461 in AJGA listings.
However she can seek guidance from golf legend, romantically involved with her mother.
"He is the top athlete worldwide," Kai expressed.
"Additionally, he's an even better human being. He suggested me to play, enjoy myself, and go with whatever happens."
She'll challenge multiple most prominent players in the sport at the Annika, featuring world number two the champion, England's Charley Hull, professional Thompson and 2023 champion champion Vu.
Tournament organizers commented that Kai's presence brings the sport to different demographics, specifically reaching younger fans.
The social media influencer maintains a massive following and just introduced her own apparel and wellness brand.
Her first tee time at 5:30 PM GMT.
