Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka Wins Consecutive WTA Top Player Honors.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.

The twenty-seven-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – which included retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.

A Season of Consistency

Across the season, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The Belarusian also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the world number one, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

In July, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Historic Achievements

Sabalenka ended the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and collected a record £11m in tournament winnings.

She earned nearly eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a new level".

Other WTA Award Honorees

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking extended hiatus following the arrival of her daughter and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
• Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and climbing to world number 18.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after securing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after making five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third time.
