'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Loved Ones of Unaccounted For Teenagers Await News After Ski Resort Blaze

The families of young people missing after a deadly blaze at a venue in a Switzerland's alpine town are facing an painful wait for official news and requesting clues about their family members publicly.

The blaze devastated the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of the first day of the year. Circulated video reveal the roof structure catching alight as beverages with sparklers are raised in celebration.

Emergency services have stated that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the those who perished of the fire, which claimed the lives of 40 people and wounded another 119. Officials noted on the latest update that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with the process ongoing to locate the remaining few.

In the waiting period, families and friends have been taking to social media to appeal for any news about their friends who were present at the venue that fateful night.

Desperate Searches for the Missing

The location of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are not yet determined, according to an public plea from his parent.

The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, informed a publication that she had returned to the city to check whether he was in the hospital, while his father did the equivalent search in the capital, but did not locate him.

"I'm living a nightmare, a horror. The options are finding my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in intensive care. It's horrific," she said.

She explained that some of his peers had been found with injuries covering nearly half their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they went through a terrifying ordeal."

The Italy's foreign ministry has confirmed that a number of of its nationals have not been located.

Teenage sportsman Emanuele Galeppini, 16, was last in contact around midnight on December 31st, his father said.

Among them is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage junior golfer, originally from Genoa but now residing in the UAE.

The Italian Golf Federation has said that he is no longer with us, without mentioning the fire, paying tribute to a "talented young man who carried with him dedication and authentic values."

His parent, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around the new year. An representative has stated that a formal confirmation of his death is not yet.

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise among the missing. His parent told reporters that he had been on holiday but had ventured out with friends and found himself at the venue.

"Someone with him told me they ran away after the fire broke out and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a certain point he couldn't see him anymore," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his educators stated, "I've always been struck by his kindness and positive demeanor, combined with great responsibility. He would frequently offer to get me a coffee."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek citizenship but lives full-time in Switzerland, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to media.

Her brother has shared an appeal on social media, saying the family has had "no information" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Officials from her country of origin say they are continuing to monitor the situation.
